General:
The article imitates antiques from the time it was manufactured new, according to the old template. The incorporated signs of use ensure the antique character and are intended to underline the nostalgic appearance. Therefore, these signs of use are intentional and do not represent a quality defect.

In addition to the chronometer, the hourglass was an important instrument for measuring time in seafaring. A classic measure is the 30 minutes on the sailors' bell clock. Four hours (eight glasses) was the usual duty of a guard. At the half hour change the ship's bell was struck once, at a full hour twice (double strike). Four double blows marked the changing of the guard. The hourglass was also used to determine the speed of ships relative to the water. Since a log is also thrown into the water when measuring time, this special hourglass is also called a log glass. The mere fact of the combination of historical and purely practical properties makes this hourglass a real collector's item. With its combination of fine materials, it represents the industrial design of the late 18th century. Century.
