The 1/2 inch grade 120 is almost as strong as grade 80 5/8 inch. (17,900 lbs-grade 120 vs. 18,100 lbs grade 80).
Also the unique design of the chain was created for rugged conditions. It is created out of a square stock instead
of round which allows for better load bearing surfaces.
While the grade 120 1/2 inch will work well for many towing & recovery applications, we still recommend
either 5/8 inch or 3/4 inch grade 80 or 100 for your serious heavy duty jobs.
