    Description

For consideration is a fabulous Japanese porcelain console or centerpiece bowl decorated by hand in Hong Kong. Vintage to the 1960s, this is a large and substantial decorative piece of quality with tremendous charm and appeal. Standing approximately 5.5", the bowl measures 12" in diameter at the lip. A parade of 12 orange elephants encircles the bowls exterior, with 16 more on the interior of the bowl near the lip, another is seen on the interior bottom. In the Japanese culture the elephant symbolizes sensitivity, wisdom, loyalty, peace, reliability and determination, and they are believed to bring with them prosperity and good fortune; thus this would be displayed perfectly on a foyer or console table! In beautiful vintage condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, prior repairs, or other compromising imperfections found, a "decorated in Hong Kong" hallmark is present on the base. Wear is appropriate for age and history of use so please review the photos as they are a descriptive part of the listing!
